John
Muir celebrated the natural world through his journeys
and writings about wild places. This website introduces
those elements of land, nature, people and spirit
that meant so much to him, and demonstrates that the
natural world has a vital part to play in our lives
through stewardship and preservation of ecosystems
and natural resources.
The John Muir Trust in Scotland and the Sierrra Club
of San Francisco share in celebrating the works and
the inspiration of John Muir's life. The photographs
within the pages of the John Muir Trust Wild Nature
Yearbook have been drawn from photographers with direct
experience of encounters from the natural world in
which we live. Each image tells its own story, both
moving and inspiring and a perfect companion throughout
our busy lives, a showcase of nature's works throughout
the year.
By
purchasing a John Muir Trust Wild Nature Yearbook
each year, you are directly helping to preserve wild
places in Scotland and other parts of Britain.

Was
commissioned by The
Hotel Odisej located on Mljet Island in Croatia
to capture the true beauty of the nature in their
National Park and surroundings. Mljet island, with
an average width of 3 km is 37 km long. It is an Island
of great diversity and contrast, and "Mljet"
National Park covers his northwestern part with an
area of 5.375 ha of protected land and surrounding
sea. This area was proclaimed as national park 11 November
1960 and represents the first institutionalized attempt
to protect an original ecosystem in the Adriatic. The
world famous lakes of Mljet consist of the Great Lake,
covering an area of 145 ha, with a maximum depth of
46 m. The Small Lake has an area of 24 ha and a maximum
depth of 29 m. The natural secrets of both lakes have
attracted many scientists over the years, as well
as other nature lovers from a wide range of professions
and personal interests. The rich vegetation of the
island, especially in the area of the national Park,
explains why Mljet is also known as a Green Island.
A
Big thank you to Daniel and Zeljko for a memorable

AVATAR
REVIEW : Patrick Di Fruscia's photography is displayed
in this month's Issue of Avatar Review.
Avatar
Review is an online review that seeks to display
the highest quality writing and visual art. Their
purpose is to provide exposure to authors and artists
and give temporary shelter to their work. They provide
a forum in which writers and visual artists can share
in this electronic medium. They believe in money for
art and will shamelessly promote artists' work in
the hope it can be sold.

Signed
a three year contract with Corbis, One of the biggest
stock agencies in the world. From the very beginning,
Corbis has pursued one unwavering goal—to become
a place where professionals can find everything they
need to tell their stories with impact that goes beyond
words. To reach that goal, they constantly gather
together the finest photographers, greatest artists,
most varied collections, most innovative services,
and technologies that complement human behavior, rather
than trying to modify it. The result: more communicators
than ever before are starting their image searches
at Corbis. All because they know where to focus.
